There are warning signs for Democrats in Gen Z voter data.
Data showing Gen Z men are leaning toward the GOP is sparking debate among Democrats over how to win back a key group of voters. According to a report released this week by Decision Desk HQ, Gen Z appears to be charting a different political course than Millennials and that multiple indicators point to substantial Republican gains among Gen Z. While some experts note that registration trends don't take into account changing attitudes between elections, the report is still providing further warning signs for Democrats as Gen Z men increasingly age into the voting electorate. Democratic activist and former Democratic National Committee vice-chair David Hogg told The Hill that he is very concerned that we are not doing enough because we are failing to listen to what voters want. The analysis showed that the Democrats lost ground among young voters in voter registration. The report showed that while Democratic registration among young white women remained consistent with historical norms at 47 percent, it had fallen to 29 percent among young white men. The report found small losses among young non-white women, and noted that Democratic registration peaked at over 80 percent a decade ago. According to the report, about 66 percent of young non-white men had usually registered as Democrats....

Goodwill CEO warns that a youth unemployment crisis is already happening because of artificial intelligence.
Tech leaders were quick to squash claims that their firms could cause significant unemployment. The CEO of Goodwill says it is already happening. Over 2 million people used the charity's employment services last year, and it's getting ready for even more. The CEO exclusively told Fortune that they are preparing for a lot of unemployed young people and other people from Artificial Intelligence. The 65-year-old, who served as the 14th United States secretary of housing and urban development, said that large organizations are beginning to make significant layoffs because of a move to artificial intelligence. I don't think it will be catastrophic, but I think we're going to see a reduction in jobs. Although people of all ages hold lower-paying jobs, they are often a rite of passage for fresh-faced students starting out in the world of work. It is much harder to find a job....

My cats and I are testing out different robot vacuums.
No seasoned pet owner would turn down automatic upkeep. The best robot vacuums for pet hair can take care of your hardwood and carpet maintenance, while the humble lint roller is still the most reliable line of defense for furniture and black clothes. It's hard to imagine how well a robotic vacuum cleaner could work on a thick layer of pet hair until you've actually seen proof in person. I test new robot vacuums at home every month, and my cats hold nothing back when preparing the testing grounds. I have narrowed down my top five picks for the best robot vacuum for pet hair. How to find a robot vacuum that works on pet hair When choosing a robot vacuum to deal with pet fur, the brush roll system is equally important. Two spinning brush rolls are more effective than one at freeing fur embedded in carpet, and the separation between the two acts as an exit door for hair that'd start wrapping otherwise....

Lawmakers say only Trump can stop the government from shutting down.
Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill say Washington is headed for a government shutdown next week unless President Trump intervenes. John Thune is the Senate's majority leader. He repeatedly told reporters he doesn't want to sit down with Schumer to negotiate a deal to keep the government open. Senate Democrats voted overwhelmingly to defeat the House-passed measure, which failed to win a simple majority on the floor. Centrist Sen. John Fetterman voted for it. The seven-week funding measure passed by the House does not have the 60 votes needed to pass in the Senate. Republican sources familiar with the Senate's internal dynamics say that Thune doesn't want to begin negotiating with Schumer until he's clear what Trump is willing to accept, and that Trump has yet to give the GOP leader clear guidance about what he would sign into law. While his staff has been in contact with White House staff, he has yet to speak directly to Trump on the matter, as he says the White House needs to weigh in before any deal is reached....

We have been asleep for too long.
European countries are increasing their digital capabilities because of the fear that critical IT systems could be shut down. The municipality of Copenhagen maps alternatives to Silicon Valley giants while leading the development with pilot projects for open source. We have been in a Sleeping Beauty slumber in Europe for a long time. The statement comes amid a growing European debate about digital sovereignty, whereDenmark has taken a leading role through concrete initiatives at both national and municipal levels. An ambitious effort to map alternatives to today's dominant IT suppliers is being driven by the city of Copenhagen. For gas and electricity, we have alternative suppliers, according to the leader of the internal audit. We want to see if we can become as supply-secure for IT as we are. He emphasizes that the focus is on supply security rather than avoiding American solutions: "For us it's important not necessarily to get rid of American tech specifically, but that the supply security to Copenhagen is good"....
