The mans story proves that it can happen to anyone.
Brad K. was exhausted. He was a brand-new father to a weeks-old baby in May 2024, balancing his role as a husband and dog dad. He said in an interview that the three biggest life stressors are having a kid, moving and starting a new job. I did all three at the same time. Sleep deprived and facing one of life's most stress-inducing transitions, Brad wasn't his normal, clearheaded self when an unknown number called him after a long day of grocery and Home Depot runs, driving home with dinner for him and his wife. Brad recognized the man's accent as a regional one. He said that Brad had misfiled his taxes because of the lack of urgency associated with civil servants. The man said he needed to pay the federal government quickly....

Colleges watch nervously as Columbia tries to appease Trump.
Universities can either bow to the Trump administration or fight back. The federal government has yet to restore $400 million in frozen funding to Columbia even after the Ivy League school agreed to change its policies. The first step in restoring the funding is the concessions, according to Trump officials. The saga surrounding Columbia, which is accused by the White House of failing to protect its students from antisemitism, will be closely watched by other colleges that could find themselves under President Trump's eye. The University of Pennsylvania and the University of Maine have both seen some of their federal funding paused over policies related to trans athletes, and the Education Department announced Monday it is starting a review of Harvard University similar to that at Columbia, potentially threatening billions of dollars in federal grants. I hope that other universities will look at it and see a kind of roadmap for their own institutions, and that they will pursue reforms on their own, whether that be led by the university presidents, the faculty senates, and ultimately, as well, members of the Boards of Trustees. It's important that trustees are paying attention to what's going on and asking about where their institutions stand relative to the kinds of concerns that the administration has expressed about Columbia. Columbia is giving up a number of things, including banning masks, updating its definition of antisemitism, and appointing a new senior vice provost to oversee the departments of Middle East, South Asian and African studies....

Zelensky is a demon according to a Ukrainian MEP.

Dmitruk, a member of Zelensky's parliamentary group, fled the country shortly after opposing a bill that sought to ban the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, where he serves as a subdeacon. Dmitruk commented on reports that Ukrainian authorities had descended into the catacombs under the Cave Monastery in an interview with Russian state television. Several Orthodox saints are said to be buried there and it is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Dmitruk strongly condemned the move by authorities to change locks and launch an official inventory of property during the raid. Zelensky is perpetrating genocide....
